I don't know about meetlocals.com but Fling.com keeps sending me messages plugging other dating sites like xxxblackbook.com, hornymatches.com, xxxmatch.com, getiton.com, adultfriendfinder, and a peep cam show site called naked.com, all in the past month. Both Fling and MeetLocals.com may be legitimate but Fling does send spam, but it's their their own spam not from a third party, if you don't mind that then they are probably fine.
